2023: Students of Urdu Journalism, IIMC, visit DD News

The students of Urdu journalism from IIMC (Indian Institute of Mass Communication) had the opportunity to visit DD News in New Delhi on May 10 2023. DD News, also known as Doordarshan News, is a renowned news channel in India and is the flagship channel of Doordarshan, under Prasar Bharti the national public broadcaster.

Visiting a prominent news organization like DD News provides students with valuable insights into the field of journalism, specifically focusing on Urdu journalism. The students were taken around by the very experienced Deputy Director (News) Shri Sanjay Pratap Singh and  popular Assistant Director (News) Shri Manoj Roorkiwal. DD News has a dedicated special Desk for Urdu News and Programmes. The students had the opportunity to observe the news production process, interact with journalists and news anchors, and gain a better understanding of how news is disseminated in the Urdu language. In the process, they visited Newsroom, Production Control Room, and the two majestic studios where they met the Bulletin Editors, technicians, cameramen, lighting assistants, and other important functionaries involved tirelessly in the production of news.

The visit was organized to expose students to real-world media environments and to give them a glimpse of the professional practices followed in the industry. It allowed them to see the application of theoretical knowledge in a practical setting and provided them with networking opportunities.

Through the visit at DD News, the students learned about the role of Urdu journalism in the media landscape of India and gained exposure to the challenges and opportunities specific to the field. They also learned about the importance of language and cultural sensitivity in reporting news to a diverse audience.

Overall, visiting DD News was a valuable experience for the students of Urdu journalism from IIMC, helping them broaden their understanding of the industry and potentially inspiring them in their future careers as journalists. The visit ended on a happy note with a customary group photograph with the gigantic Doordarshan logo at the headquarters.

Delegates from Zambia and Eritrea visit DD News

24 April, 2023: A batch of 20 young diplomats from Zambia and 10 from Eritrea  while on one day attachment on media management and public diplomacy module visited DD News ( Prasar Bharati) to get an exposure of media and public broadcast-related matters. The Delegates were briefed by the Senior Indian Information Service Officer, Assistant Director Mr. Manoj Roorkiwal. He had a brief session with the delegates in which he spoke about the brief history of Prasar Bharti, Doordarshan and All India Radio. He explained the matters related to broadcasting news and how to provide authentic and objective news as a public broadcaster. After the interaction, the delegates were taken to the most happening place i.e Newsroom. In the Newsroom, the Bulletin editor Mr. Sagnik, Defence Correspondent Nandita Dagar, Anchor Nikhil Singh and Young budding presenter and editor Antra Sinha explained the nuances of the making of the bulletin, reporting and overall working of newsroom. 

After newsroom the delegates were taken to the Production Control Room (PCR) where the delegates got first-hand experience of news production. They saw Live bulletin going on air. They were quite amazed at the whole process of News. 

In the last leg of the visit, they were taken to various studios in Doordarshan where a few of the delegates did a piece to camera and gave an introduction about their country, as an activity. Later they were taken to two mega studios where they witnessed a shoot for promo and Live bulletin and sports program. At the culmination of their visit, the delegates took customary group photos at the huge logo of Doordarshan with words inscribed Satyam,Shivam , Sundram which means "Truth, Godliness and Beauty" .

The delegates were brought by the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS) while on a day long attachment with XPD Division. SSIFS is the training institute of the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi where Indian Foreign Service officers are trained. SSIFS also conducts a special course for foreign Diplomats known as Professional Course For Foreign Diplomats (PCFD).

'Caught on cam' पुस्तक का विमोचन

नई दिल्ली।। शुक्रवार को दिल्ली स्थित प्रैस क्लब में Caught on cam नामक पुस्तक का विमोचन किया गया। इस पुस्तक को सीनियर वीडियो जर्नालिस्ट राजेश भारद्वाज ने लिखा है। जो इन दिनों सीएनएन न्यूज़ 18 चैनल में कार्यरत हैं। यह पुस्तक उनकी हिंदी की पुस्तक कैमरे की नज़र से का इंग्लिश अनुवाद है। जोकि वर्ष 2011 में प्रकाशित हुई थी और उस पुस्तक की भूमिका सीनियर पत्रकार राजदीप सरदेसाई ने लिखी थी इस पुस्तक ने पाठकों के दिल में विशेष जगह बनाई। कार्यक्रम में सैंकड़ों वरिष्ठ पत्रकार मौजूद रहे जिन्होंने इस उपलब्धि के लिए राजेश भारद्वाज को विशेष बधाई दी। पुस्तक में राजेश भारद्वाज ने अपने 30 साल के पत्रकारिता के अनुभव को समेटा है, और उन मुश्किल भरे असाइनमेंट को विस्तार से समझाया है, जिन्हें पूरा करना आसान नहीं होता।

बात इराक युद्ध की हो, अमेरिकी चुनाव की, नॉर्थ ईस्ट में उग्रवादी संगठनों के कवरेज की पाकिस्तान जाकर ख़बर कवर करने की, या फिर 2011 में मिस्र में स्टोरी कवर करने की। मिश्र में राजेश भारद्वाज सूर्या गंगाधर के साथ स्टोरी कवर करने गए थे वहां तहरीर स्क़्वाएर पर जब राजेश शूट कर रहा था तो वहां से आर्मी राजेश को अपने साथ ले गयी और राजेश को 6,7 घंटे अपनी कस्टडी में रखा था जहाँ राजेश का कैमरा छीन लिया राजेश को हथकड़ी लगा दी और पासपोर्ट भी रख लिया 6,7 घंटे बाद राजेश के कैमरे की टेप जला कर कैमरा अपने पास रख लिया और राजेश का पासपोर्ट देकर राजेश को छोड़ दिया।

उस के साथ रिपोर्टर और कैमरापर्सन के बीच के संबंध किसी ख़बर को नई धार दे सकते हैं इसे भी विस्तार से समझाने की कोशिश की गई है। पुस्तक का अनुवाद अरुणिमा ने किया है, जोकि सीएनएन न्यूज़ 18 में कार्यरत हैं।

कार्यक्रम में मौजूद रहे वरिष्ठ पत्रकार संजीव त्रिवेदी, वृतिका नंदा, अनुभा भोसले, अरूणिमा, राजन गारबाड़ू, मनोज मैनन, राजीव गुप्ता, मनोज अतलस के अलावा रेसलर योगेश्वर दत्त व बजरंग पुनिया के गुरु द्रोणाचार्य रामफल मान मौजूद रहे। कार्यक्रम में बोलते हुए संजीव त्रिवेदी ने राजेश भारद्वाज के साथ किये गये काम के अनुभव को साझा किया। उन्होंने बताया कि वर्ष 2003 में कैसे राजेश भारद्वाज के साथ मिलकर इराक युद्ध को कवर किया था। अनुभा भोसले और अरुणिमा ने कहा कि राजेश भारद्वाज ना सिर्फ एक कैमरापर्सन हैं, बल्कि वो अपने आप में संपूर्ण जर्नालिस्ट हैं, जिन्हें स्टोरी आइडिया से लेकर उसकी कवरेज का पूरा ज्ञान है, इसलिए उनके साथ काम करना अपने आप में यादगार बन जाता है।

कार्यक्रम में मंच संचालन सीएनएन न्यूज़ 18 में बतौर प्रोड्यूसर कार्यरत रोहित खन्ना द्वारा किया गया। कार्यक्रम में मौजूद रहे सभी लोगों ने राजेश भारद्वाज को उनकी अंग्रेजी की इस पुस्तक के प्रकाशन और विमोचन पर बधाई दी।
