The 13th episode of Kissa Khaki Ka, the official podcast series of Delhi Police, will focus on the story of sub-inspector Sonu who is instrumental in starting libraries in different villages in and around Delhi.

Sonu joined Delhi Police in 2007 and always wanted to do social service. In 2020, while he got infected with Covid-19, he decided to bring this dream to reality by contributing to his village. Subsequently, he started Gram Pathshala, an initiative that enables children from the village to sit in a library space and make better use of their time. These libraries also offer an exclusive space for UPSC aspirants from the village. Three other staffers from Delhi Police also help Sonu in this endeavour.

Kissa Khaki Ka is an initiative of Shri Rakesh Asthana, Commissioner of Delhi Police. This is conceived, scripted and voiced by media educator and prison reformer Dr. Vartika Nanda. She heads the Department of Journalism at Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University.

This episode is titled ‘Shikha ka Ujala’ and will be aired on 3rd April 2022 on the official social media pages of Delhi Police.

The pandemic had adverse effects on everybody's mental health and forced people to be restricted, away from the ones they loved, and trapped them in a ruthless cycle of self-loathing, depression, and sickness. The pandemic, however also made people realize what's truly important and while that realization hit several people, only strong-willed, dedicated, and bright minds actually turned the cycle in their favor and Sub Inspector Sonu leads the list with outstanding marks as he not only managed to turn his sickness around into something positive but also give something back to the society as a police officer, yes but also a selfless social worker.

The gift of education is the greatest of all and we hope to be able to rise up to the standards of Mr. Sonu and other officers who have been successful in opening over 250 libraries in the state of Uttar Pradesh. #kissakhakika #delhipolice
