The second week of October covered the following topics – ‘Music Video for Social Commentary’ and ‘Mixing Genres in Television Production’. The presentation for the former was prepared and presented in class by Pranjali Pandey. The presentation covered various aspects like different types of music videos, music videos for social change, importance of music videos in today’s industries and types of advertisements in music videos. It had a number of engaging examples that helped in understanding the topic in a better manner. The presentation ended with a short analysis of misinterpretation of India in western music videos. 

The second presentation, by Sakshi Suman, was on the topic ‘Mixing Genres in Television Production’. The presentation introduced the concept of genres and explained in detail the various types of television genres. It included relevant examples for each type of genre. Dr Nanda explained the psychological functioning behind the success and popularity of some genres over the others. She also discussed the impact of reality shows on the audience and how such shows have carved a niche for themselves in the past decades.
