Juxtapose 2023
The department organized its annual academic meet in an offline mode after 4 years with a footfall of over 100 students in over 7 competitions. The inaugural day of Juxtapose 2023 opened with an ingenious, creative, and critically tailored panel discussion on the theme ‘Community Building in New Media’, which was held on 5th April 2023. The discussion was preceded by the Department's Students Union announcing the Academic Meet open and our Head of Department, Ms. Vartika Nanda Ma’am expressing her gratitude to the invited guests and audience for their presence. The entire department faculty and students from all years and different departments of the college zealously graced the discussion. On the same day, All India Media Meet (an MUN simulation) and Ad-Mad (an advertising competition) were also held where students showcased their creative talents and delved deep into discussions on artificial intelligence and its impact on the education sector in India.
Another panel discussion on the second day 6th April was conducted on the topic “Bridging the gap between citizens and cinema” where cinema enthusiasts, students from all years and departments, and department faculty members joined the discussion. On the same day, media quizzes and English turncoat debates were also conducted where the quiz sought to assess the knowledge and aptitude of participants in diverse areas of media, encompassing film trivia, music, theater, cinema, global culture, and related subjects. With a focus on fostering media literacy, the Media Quiz aimed to cultivate the analytical faculties of its participants, as well as their general awareness of contemporary events. Whereas the debate competition invited participation from universities and schools from across Delhi NCR with the topic “Is the national press more powerful than the vernacular/ regional press in promoting and highlighting socio-economic movements?"
As part of Juxtapose ‘23 closing ceremony, an open mic event was organized that captured expressions of different forms, and paved the way for the audience to engage with thoughts of different dimensions and experience the emotional encapsulation of varied pieces of art.
