आगरा जेल रेडियो ने पूरे किए 7 वर्ष: 31 July, 2026
आगरा, 31 जुलाई 2026 – भारत में कारागार सुधार और पुनर्वास की दिशा में विशेष पहल के तौर पर स्थापित आगरा जेल रेडियो ने अफने सात वर्ष पूरे कर लिए हैं. 2019 में जिला जेल, अगरा में स्थापित यह रेडियो स्टेशन कैदियों को अपनी आवाज़ और रचनात्मकता व्यक्त करने का मंच प्रदान करता है और जेल की दीवारों के भीतर परिवर्तन और सशक्तिकरण का प्रतीक बन चुका है।
चार रेडियो जॉकी कर रहे हैं संचालन
वर्तमान में इस स्टेशन का संचालन चार रेडियो जॉकी- भरत, उदय, चेतन और कृष्णा- कर रहे हैं। ये सभी कैदी हैं जिन्हें एंकरिंग, प्रोडक्शन और प्रसारण का प्रशिक्षण दिया गया है। उनका कार्य दृढ़ता, रचनात्मकता और संवाद की शक्ति को दर्शाता है, जो आशा और सुधार को बढ़ावा देता है।
जिला जेल, आगरा के अधीक्षक श्री हरि ओम शर्मा के अनुसार, “दो घंटे का प्रसारण प्रतिदिन उत्सुकता से प्रतीक्षित रहता है। हमारे पास विविध कार्यक्रम हैं, लेकिन जागरूकता आधारित कार्यक्रम सबसे लोकप्रिय हैं।”
प्रोफेसर वर्तिका नन्दा, तिनका तिनका फाउंडेशन की संस्थापक और दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय के लेडी श्री राम कालेज में प्राध्यापक ने इस जेल रेडियो की अवधारणा, प्रशिक्षण और क्रियान्वयन का नेतृत्व किया था। उनके मुताबिक, “इस रेडियो ने अपनी विशिष्ट पहचान बनाई है। कोविड-19 के दौरान इसकी सफलता ने जेल विभाग को अन्य जेलों में भी इस प्रक्रिया को शुरू करने के लिए प्रेरित किया। आगरा में हमारे अनुभवों के आधार पर हमने हरियाणा की जेलों और उत्तराखंड की जिला जेल देहरादून में भी रेडियो की शुरुआत की।”
उपलब्धियां और प्रमुख मील के पत्थर
आईसीएसएसआर शोध (2024): प्रोफेसर वर्तिका नंदा द्वारा उत्तर प्रदेश की महिला कैदियों और उनके बच्चों की संचार आवश्यकताओं पर किए गए शोध को भारतीय सामाजिक विज्ञान अनुसंधान परिषद (ICSSR) ने उत्कृष्ट (Outstanding) के रूप में चिह्नित किया। यह रिपोर्ट 2024 में उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्य सचिव द्वारा औपचारिक रूप से जारी की गई और पुनर्वास तथा सुधार में जेल रेडियो की परिवर्तनकारी भूमिका को रेखांकित किया।
राष्ट्रीय पुस्तक न्यास का प्रकाशन: भारत सरकार के राष्ट्रीय पुस्तक न्यास (NBT) द्वारा प्रकाशित रेडियो इन प्रिजन पुस्तक में भारत में जेल रेडियो की यात्रा और उसके प्रभाव पर विस्तार से लिखा गया है।
सांस्कृतिक और शैक्षिक प्रभाव: रेडियो कैदियों के लिए कहानियाँ, कविताएँ और शैक्षिक सामग्री साझा करने का माध्यम बन गया है, जिससे उनमें आत्मसम्मान और समुदाय की भावना विकसित हुई है।
राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर मान्यता: आगरा जेल रेडियो को भारत में कारागार सुधार के मॉडल के रूप में उद्धृत किया गया है, जिसने अन्य सुधार गृहों में भी इसी तरह की पहल को प्रेरित किया है।
परिणाम और प्रभाव
अभिव्यक्ति के माध्यम से पुनर्वास: रेडियो ने कैदियों को अपनी भावनाओं और रचनात्मकता को सकारात्मक रूप से व्यक्त करने का अवसर प्रदान किया है।
कौशल विकास: रेडियो एंकरिंग और प्रोडक्शन का प्रशिक्षण कैदियों को जीवन के बाद उपयोगी कौशल प्रदान कर रहा है।
जेल को मानवीय बनाना: इस पहल ने कैदियों और समाज के बीच की दूरी को कम किया है और जेलों को सुधार और आत्म-विकास के केंद्र के रूप में स्थापित किया है।
आगे की दिशा
आगरा जेल रेडियो अपने आठवें वर्ष में प्रवेश करते हुए संवाद की शक्ति के माध्यम से सामाजिक परिवर्तन का प्रतीक बना हुआ है। शैक्षणिक संस्थानों, सरकारी निकायों और नागरिक समाज से बढ़ती मान्यता के साथ यह पहल अपने प्रभाव और विस्तार को और आगे ले जाने के लिए तैयार है।
Agra Jail Radio Marks 7 Transformative Years
Agra, July 31, 2026 – Agra Jail Radio, a pioneering initiative in prison reform and rehabilitation, proudly celebrates its 7th anniversary today. Launched to give incarcerated individuals a voice and platform for creative expression, the radio station has become a beacon of change and empowerment within the prison walls.
Four Radio Jockeys Leading the Way
Currently, the station is run by four dedicated radio jockeys- Bharat, Uday, Chetan and Krishna, all inmates, who have been trained to anchor, produce, and broadcast programs. Their work reflects resilience, creativity, and the power of communication in fostering hope and reform.
According to Shri Hari Om Sharma, Superintendent of District Jail, Agra, the two hour long broadcast is eagerly awaited every day. We have a range of programmes but the most popular ones are the awareness based programs.
Professor Vartika Nanda, founder of Tinka Tinka Foundation, that is credited to conceptualise, train and execute this prison radio said, this radio has created a niche. Its success, especially during Covid-19, prompted the prison department to initiate this process in other jails too. Based on our experiences here, we launched radio in the jails of Haryana and also in District Jail, Dehradun in Uttarakhand.

Over the past seven years, Agra Jail Radio has achieved significant milestones:
ICSSR Report Release (2024): A landmark research by Professor Vartika Nanda, on the communication needs of women inmates are their children with special reference to Uttar Pradesh, under the aegis of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), was marked as OUTSTANDING. It formally released by the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh in 2024. This report highlighted the transformative role of prison radio in rehabilitation and reform.
National Book Trust Publication: Radio in Prison, published by National Book Trust (NBT), Government of India, documents the journey and impact of prison radio in India.
Cultural and Educational Impact: The radio has become a medium for inmates to share stories, poetry, and educational content, fostering a sense of community and self-worth.
Recognition in Prison Reform Discourse: Agra Jail Radio has been cited as a model in discussions on prison reforms across India, inspiring similar initiatives in other correctional facilities.
