2022: Yearend special on Media: वैकल्पिक मीडिया में है एक तिनका उम्मीद

‘जिस वैकल्पिक मीडिया की बात सबसे कम होती है, मुझे उसी में एक तिनका उम्मीद दिखाई दे रही है’

मेरी नजर में मीडिया के लिए साल 2022 डर, अपराध, जेल, भ्रष्टाचार व शोर और उससे मिल सकने वाले मुनाफे का साल रहा। मीडिया ने साल की शुरुआत से लेकर अंत तक इन्हें भरपूर प्राथमिकता दी। अपराधों की नई किस्मों को परोसा। अपराध करने के नुस्खे-तरीके बताए और साथ में चलते-चलते अपराध की खबर भी बताई। पूरे साल कई बड़े नामों को जेल में जाते और जेल से बाहर आते हुए देखा गया। जेल में मालिश से लेकर जेल से रिहा हुए चार्ल्स शोभराज तक, टुकड़ों में गर्लफ्रेंड को काट देने वाले से लेकर काली कमाई के मामले में गिरफ्त में आए नामचीन लोगों तक मीडिया ऐसी तमाम खबरें ढूंढता रहा, जो उसे टीआरपी बटोरने में मदद करतीं। लेकिन, इनमें सामाजिक सरोकार नहीं था। विशुद्ध मुनाफा था। मीडिया कारोबार और मुनाफे से चिपका रहा। पूंजी में जान अटकी रही।

2022 गलतफहमियों में गुजर गया। ढेर सारे चैनलों के बीच में किसी एक पत्रकार की मजबूत छवि बनने का दौर कभी का चला गया। अब न ही जनता को बहुत सारे पत्रकारों के चैनल याद रहते हैं और न ही खुद उनके नाम। जो पत्रकार कुछ दिन तक टीवी पर नहीं दिखता, जनता उसका नाम भूलने लगती है। मतलब यह कि अब नाम गुमने लगे हैं। इसके बावजूद आत्ममुग्धता और गुमान के नकली संसार में जी रहे मीडिया को अपना अक्स देखने की फुर्सत अब तक नहीं मिली है। फिर पत्रकारों का वर्गीकरण भी हुआ है। स्टार एंकर-रिपोर्टरों को छोड़ दें तो बाकी की स्थिति में कोई बड़ा फेरबदल नहीं हुआ है। वे आज भी उतने ही लाचार हैं, जितने पहले थे। चैनलों को किसी के होने या न होने से लेशमात्र भी फर्क नहीं पड़ता। यह तबका संवेदना के लायक है, लेकिन उससे हमदर्दी करने वाले भी नदारद हैं।

वैसे नामों का गुम जाना इस बात को साबित करता है कि भीड़ में  जगह बनाना मुश्किल काम है। दूसरा संकट मीडिया की उस गिरती विश्वसनीयता का है, जिसे वो मानने को राजी नहीं है। इसलिए मैं मिसाल जेल की ही देना चाहूंगी। भारतभर की जितनी जेलों में मैं गई, उसमें बंदियों ने इस बात को बड़ा जोर देकर कहा कि उनका विश्वास न तो कानून पर है और न ही मीडिया पर। कानून पर विश्वास न होने की वजह समझ में आ सकती है, लेकिन जेल की कोठरी में बैठा कोई बंदी मीडिया पर भरोसा न रखता हो, यह बात सोचने की जरूर है। कड़वी बात शायद बंदी ही कह सकता है। लेकिन, उसकी भी सुनता कोई नहीं।

ठीक 10 साल पहले तक नया साल आने पर ज्यादा चर्चा इस बात पर होती थी कि क्या प्रिंट मीडिया अपने अस्तित्व को बचा पाएगा और क्या निजी चैनलों के बीच में उसको खुद को संभाल पाना मुश्किल होगा? आज 2022 में चिंता इस बात की नहीं है कि प्रिंट का क्या होगा, चिंता इस बात की जरूर है कि टीवी न्यूज के शोर के बीच अब खबर का क्या होगा? खबरों के खालिसपन पर अब खुद खबरनवीसों का यकीन नहीं रहा। दर्शक भी खबर परोसने वाले को देखकर हौले-से मुस्कुरा देता है। देखते ही देखते न्यूज मनोरंजन में बदल गई और मनोरंजन न्यूज में। भाषा और व्याकरण दयनीय बना दिए गए हैं। सही भाषा लिखने वाले ढूंढने की कोशिशें भी अब नहीं होतीं। बाजार में सब स्वीकार्य है बशर्ते पैसा आता हो। तिजोरी ने भाषा को शर्म से भर दिया है। इस सारे गड़बड़झाले के बीच खबर की स्थिति सर्कस के जोकर की तरह होने लगी है। हां, एक फर्क यह जरूर है कि सर्कस में एक ही जोकर होता है और वही सर्कस का नायक भी बना रहता है।

एक और चिंता मीडिया की पढ़ाई को लेकर है। अब क्या पढ़ाया जाए, क्या बताया जाए और क्या सिखाया जाए। छात्र जो सीखता है वो न्यूजरूम में मिलता नहीं और न्यूजरूम में है, उसे पढ़ाया नहीं जा सकता। मीडिया शिक्षण एक ऐसे चौराहे पर आ खड़ा हो गया है, जहां बैलेंस और वैरिफिकेशन की बात को छात्र हजम नहीं कर पाता। क्लासरूम की पढ़ाई जिस शालीन खबर की बात करती है, वो टीवी के पर्दे पर दिखती नहीं। दंगल में बदल चुके टीवी न्यूज चैनलों की भीड़ में यह लेखा-जोखा करना मुश्किल लगता है कि मीडिया आने वाले सालों में अपनी छवि को कैसे सुधारेगा।

दर्शक को वैसा ही मीडिया मिल रहा है, जिसके वह योग्य है। मीडिया का स्तर दर्शक के स्तर को भी रेखांकित कर रहा है। इसलिए अब मीडिया से शिकायत न कीजिए। गौर कीजिए कि आप दिनभर क्या सुनना, देखना, बोलना और पढ़ना पसंद करते हैं। पढ़ने की घटती परंपरा ने तेजी से परोसे जा रहे समाचारों की जमीन तैयार की है। आपके जायके का स्वाद ही मौजूदा मीडिया है और जायके में सुधार है-वैकल्पिक मीडिया। इसलिए जिस मीडिया की बात सबसे कम होती है, मुझे उसी में उम्मीद दिखाई दे रही है।

पब्लिक सर्विस ब्रॉडकास्टर की अपनी सीमाएं और प्राथमिकताएं हैं। प्राइवेट मीडिया अपनी साख के संकट से जूझ रहा है। तीनों तरह के मीडिया में यह बात साफ तरह से उभरने लगी कि आने वाला साल वैकल्पिक मीडिया के लिए एक नई जगह खड़ी कर सकता है। दिल्ली पुलिस ने 2022 की जनवरी को अपने पॉडकास्ट ‘किस्सा खाकी का’ की शुरुआत की। हर रविवार को प्रसारित होने वाली इस कड़ी में हर बार एक नया किस्सा होता है। पुलिस जैसा बड़ा और दमदार महकमा भी अब अपने लिए वैकल्पिक प्लेफार्म तैयार कर चुका है। यह एक शुरुआत है। नागरिक पत्रकारिता बड़ा आकार ले रही है। सोशल मीडिया ने जैसे पत्रकारों की फौज ही खड़ी कर दी है। हर किसी के पास कहने-पोस्ट करने के लिए कुछ है। वे अब किसी पर आश्रित नहीं। ऐसे में एक तिनका उम्मीद बाकी है, क्योंकि उम्मीद और हौसले के लिए तिनका भी बहुत होता है।

Weekly Class Report: Introduction to Broadcast Media

 14th - 18th October, 2022

Introduction to Broadcast Media

The week started with a revision of the format of writing for television broadcasts. Dr. Nanda assigned the class the task of creating a news story about the freshers on campus. The class was divided into four groups and the news stories were shot on campus. 

The students showed the prepared news stories according to the assigned groups. Each of those was screened for the class. Dr. Nanda then asked the class to carefully analyze each of the stories and try to figure out what sections they needed improvement in. She then gave her feedback on how to improve their stories. 

The students were then asked to create another news story on the same topic so as to be able to track the progress and changes in their script and style. 

A lecture was held to allow the students to work on their script writing skills. Concerns were addressed and questions were answered regarding the same. The class was asked to research current affairs for a discussion in the following week.

National Book Trust India (NBT-India) organized the first edition of Gomti Book Festival in Lucknow on the serene backdrop of Gomti Riverfront Park – from 29th Oct to 6 Nov 2022. Spread across more than 1000 sq.m., this book festival presented the best elements of a Book Fair and a Literary Festival with Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava as the core theme, and with NEP 2020 and YUVA Scheme as the sub-themes.

Laadli Media Award: Tinka Tinka Jail Radio

Tinka Tinka Prison Radio is honoured with the Laadli Media Award in Hyderabad in the Hindi category of Web Podcasts. The award was given for episode 11 of Tinka Tinka Jail Radio Podcast titled ‘Holi and Karnal Jail Radio’. This was broadcast on March 29, 2021.

The episode focused on the dry-run of Jail Radio in District Jail, Karnal, undertaken by 10 inmate-turned-RJs of the jail. These inmates were a part of the radio skill production training programme, included in the broad prison radio training project in the state of Haryana. The training was intended to carve Radio Jockeys from the league of inmates and prepare them to run their own radio stations from behind the prison bars.  Audition, training and execution of prison radio in Haryana is done by prison reformer Dr. Vartika Nanda. She heads the Department of Journalism in Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University.  She was conferred Stri Shakti Award by the President of India in 2014. This is the highest civilian award for women empowerment in India. 

Tinka Tinka Jail Radio Podcasts are an exclusive audio series for jails across India. These podcasts are the only podcasts in India solely dedicated to prison reforms in the country and aim to bring about a positive change in prisons. With no financial support, these podcasts. which began in 2020, have been successful in highlighting original voices of inmates from different prisons of the country. Conceptualised, scripted and voiced by Dr. Vartika Nanda, these podcasts are freely available on Tinka Tinka Foundation’s YouTube channel: Tinka Tinka Prison Reforms.

Laadli Media Awards is an initiative of the Laadli group which works with media to change the way India thinks about its women and releases annual Media and Advertising awards for Gender Sensitivity. This was the 12th year of such awards.

तिनका तिनका जेल रेडियो जेलों में इंद्रधनुष बनाने की कोशिश करता है। आज यह हमारा 50वां अंक है। रंगों, आवाजों और कलम के जरिए जेलों को संवारने के इस यज्ञ में हरियाणा की जेलों ने खूब साथ दिया है। इन जेलों की तरफ से आज हरियाणा राज्य को हरियाणा दिवस मुबारक। तिनका जेल रेडियो के आज के अंक का ऑडियो संपादन सुखनंदन बिंद्रा ने किया है। शुरुआती की एपिसोड हर्ष वर्धन ने संपादित किए। आज के इस 50वें अंक के बाद तिनका जेल रेडियो एक पहल की घोषणा करेगा।

Documenting audio visual heritage of prisons: Tinka Tinka Foundation launches a new initiative

On the occasion of World Day of Audio Visual Heritage on 27th October, Tinka Tinka Foundation has launched a new segment- Tinka Tinka Prison Bytes- for the preservation of Audio Visual documents pertaining to jails. This segment will preserve and document jail voices, activities and contributions in the audio-visual format. It will also promote inter-jail podcast programmes, encouraging inmates towards art and creativity, further leading to reformation. 

Founded by India’s leading prison reformer, Dr. Vartika Nanda, Tinka Tinka Foundation has been engaged in bringing positive change in prisons. Foundation has launched prison radio in the jails of Haryana and District Jail, Agra. Tinka Tinka Prison Reforms, a YouTube channel by Tinka Tinka is the only channel in India that is dedicated to prison reforms. Today, Tinka Tinka Prison Bytes has been launched under the banner of Tinka Tinka Prison Research Cell (established in 2021) devoted to prison related research.  Foundation has also published 3 books on prison reforms that are considered to be an authentic version of prison life.

Tinka Tinka Foundation also gives Tinka Tinka India Awards and Tinka Tinka Bandini Awards at the national level to inmates and jail staff doing an extraordinary contribution to jails. These annual awards were launched in 2015 and are the only awards given to inmates and the staff.

The World Day for Audiovisual Heritage is observed globally on 27 October every year. The day was chosen by UNESCO to raise awareness of the significance and preservation risks of recorded sound and audiovisual documents. The theme of the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage 2020: “Your Window to the World”.

27 अक्टूबर को विश्व ऑडियो-विजुअल विरासत दिवस के अवसर पर तिनका तिनका फाउंडेशन ने जेलों से संबंधित ऑडियो विजुअल दस्तावेजों के संरक्षण के लिए एक नई सीरीज- तिनका तिनका  प्रिजन बाइट्स को लॉन्च किया. यह सीरीज जेल की आवाजों, गतिविधियों और योगदान को ऑडियो-विजुअल प्रारूप में संरक्षित और दस्तावेज करेगी. इस सीरीज के माध्यम से जेल के पॉडकास्ट कार्यक्रमों को भी बढ़ावा मिलेगा . साथ ही कला और रचनात्मकता के प्रति कैदियों को प्रोत्साहित भी करेगी, जिससे उनमें सुधार भी आ सके. 

भारत की अग्रणी जेल सुधारक डॉ. वर्तिका नन्दा द्वारा स्थापित तिनका तिनका फाउंडेशन जेलों में सकारात्मक बदलाव लाने में लगातार लगा हुआ है. फाउंडेशन ने हरियाणा और जिला जेल, आगरा की जेलों में जेल रेडियो लॉन्च किया है. तिनका तिनका का यूट्यूब चैनल- तिनका तिनका प्रिजन रिफॉर्म्स, भारत में एकमात्र यूट्यूब चैनल है, जो जेल सुधारों के लिए समर्पित है. आज तिनका तिनका प्रिजन रिसर्च सेल (2021 में स्थापित) के बैनर तले तिनका तिनका प्रिजन बाइट्स का शुभारंभ किया गया है, जो जेल संबंधी अनुसंधान को समर्पित है. फाउंडेशन ने जेल सुधारों पर 3 पुस्तकें भी प्रकाशित की हैं, जिन्हें जेल जीवन का एक प्रामाणिक दस्तावेज माना जाता है.

तिनका तिनका फाउंडेशन जेलों में असाधारण योगदान करने वाले कैदियों और जेल कर्मचारियों को राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर तिनका तिनका इंडिया अवॉर्ड्स और तिनका तिनका बंदिनी अवॉर्ड भी देता है. यह वार्षिक पुरस्कार 2015 में शुरू किए गए थे और यह कैदियों और कर्मचारियों को दिए जाने वाले एकमात्र पुरस्कार हैं.

गौरतलब है कि ऑडियो-विजुअल विरासत के लिए विश्व दिवस हर साल 27 अक्टूबर को विश्व स्तर पर मनाया जाता है. यूनेस्को द्वारा इस दिन को चुना गया था. ऑडियो-विजुअल हेरिटेज 2020 के लिए विश्व दिवस का विषय: "आपकी खिड़की दुनिया के लिए" था.
