To begin my journey at LSR, I would first like to talk about what brought me here. For the past two years, I had been manifesting becoming a part of this prestigious institution, and now that it has finally come true, I couldn't be any happier.
Although these first few days have only been a trailer of what the next three years are going to look like, they have already made me realise that I truly cannot wait for the rest of the story to unfold. We, the freshers, are the new actors stepping into a whole new world, our seniors are the directors who have guided us from the very first day, and our professors are the producers making sure everything falls into place. From what these first few days have shown me, I know that this sets the stage for one of best films to be released.
Walking through the green lanes of the campus, meeting people from different parts of the country, and discovering the countless opportunities that await us have only made me more excited for everything that lies ahead. I can't wait to learn, grow, make lifelong memories, and truly make the most of my time at LSR.

There's a version of me who had LSR posters on her wall before she'd ever set foot on campus who knew the crest, the red-brick arches, the exact shade of that gate, long before it was real. So when I finally walked in and saw it standing in front of me, actual and unposed, I cried. I called my mother right there and said, "the campus is so beautiful, mumma" because I didn't have a bigger sentence for it yet. Journalism felt right precisely because I've never fit one box, economics, political science, psychology, debating, reading, writing all pull at me at once. LSR feels like the first place letting me follow all of it without choosing. I still don't know exactly who I'll become here. I'm just glad I get to find out.

My journey in LSR has been like a whirlwind—a mix of humbling moments, absolute magnificence, and glorious triumph. It feels like waking up to a long-awaited awakening, and the more I get to know my course, the more I fall in love with it. A special mention goes to the societies of LSR; their performances during orientation were great. But right after, reality hit. Surrounded by hyper-articulate peers, it felt challenging. Fortunately, after listening to the seniors, a new sense of confidence built up. I know I will walk out of this college as a completely different and confident individual

Lady Shree Ram College has been my dream since 11th grade, and the joy I felt when the results were out and I realised I got my first preference which was LSR Journalism, is unexplainable. I have always been a person who has been very vocal about her opinions from the very beginning, I don't shy away from expressing and taking a stand for what's right thus I believe journalism is the perfect stream for me. The journey in LSR so far has been everything I could possibly dream of but on the other hand it's quite overwhelming because this is a place where the brightest minds have gathered today, where the competition is fiery and everyone has to work hard to mark their place. However am willing to do everything I can to be able to create a better future for myself and to learn and strive more everyday.

EVERY NEW BEGINNING CARRIES A STORY WAITING TO BE WRITTEN.

My journey at LSR began on a rainy day, but the showers only made my first day more memorable. With countless dreams in my heart, I stepped into one of the most beautiful campuses of India ,
excited to begin a new chapter.
During the orientation, our Principal shared the story of two pots one perfect and one cracked. Though the cracked pot felt inadequate, it later discovered that the water it spilled had nurtured a path of blooming flowers. It was a reminder that our imperfections can create unseen beauty.
LSR is not just Lady Shri Ram it also stands for Leadership and Social Responsibility, values I hope to uphold throughout my journey. As a Journalism student, I am looking forward to learn, grow, find my voice, and make a meaningful impact.
Leadership begins with responsibility, and responsibility creates lasting change.

It has only been a few days, but this journey already feels exciting. The first day came with a mix of nervousness and curiosity, but meeting new people and interacting with everyone made me feel comfortable. The faculty as well as the seniors were very welcoming. I'm looking forward to exploring this journey, learning from my teachers, making meaningful friendships, and growing with every experience. Hoping these next few years are filled with learning, memories, and countless stories worth telling.

On 31 December 2025, I pasted LSR's logo on my vision board and now I'm here in LSR. It was a rainy orientation day in which we witnessed so many talented singers and dancers, I was awestruck but at the same time felt a little humbled as we sat in the old building talking to our seniors and explaining my bottled up feelings to them and then Akanksha Didi said that their is no need to compare ourselves to them but use them as our inspiration that we can do the same and to become a better version of ourselves. And then we had our departmental orientation in which I had to leave in the middle just to bid farewell to my parents as they were going back to Chandigarh, It was hard but it was necessary to witness LSR's magic. lastly, l’m amazed to see my batch-mates, the seniors, the union, the faculty and I'm so ready to learn from all of them. I'm Mehak, and now I'll not label myself as a perfectionist but as a experimenter, to shape myself and finally find my own vocation. I'm ready to witness your magic, LSR!

My name is Menangdila Longchar, and I come from a small state in the Northeast called Nagaland. To be honest, LSR and journalism were never my first choice, they chose me instead. I was preparing to join a film school abroad. However, not getting accepted there eventually led me here, and I’m grateful that it did.

So far, my experience at LSR has been quite eventful and bittersweet. I have met some of the kindest people here, including my seniors and professors. Being a very shy and reserved person, I was nervous at first, but LSR has made me feel like I am not a stranger. Instead, I have felt accepted and embraced from the very beginning. It already feels like a home away from home. LSR has given me such a positive and welcoming experience so far, and I can't wait to see what more awaits me here.

“Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye” or “That alone is education which leads to liberation”

These deep and evocative words greeted me as I walked into the red-brick place that has been home to brilliant ideas, dialogues, and fierce women for decades. And now, it is my home too. Lady Shri Ram College for Women. A legacy. An honour. A privilege. However, on my first day, I felt both illuminated and intimidated by the expectations on my shoulders. I was looking eye to eye with my future self, whom I have yet to build rigorously and grow into. Gratitude filled my mind, and as I stepped forward onto the campus pathways, I adored the luxuriant greenery which will accompany me throughout my time at this institution. Here’s to new beginnings!

The moment I entered the college gates I felt a sense of enchantment! Like most, I felt both nervous and excited about what this new environment has in store for me. I remember being welcomed by the generous rain showers the day marking the beginning of a new era in each our lives! That day, the campus looked way more beautiful than what I had imagined and was filled with warm and welcoming smiles.
Interacting with my classmates, again was an enriching experience in itself. Coming from different parts of the country all of them brought their individuality to the campus. Past few days were a bit exhausting, filled with new experiences and unfamiliar ideas which was, in fact owherwhelming at first but with time I'm learning it's equally important to take time, seek help when it's required and stay true to myself.
Withing just a week I feel a growing sense of possibilities about the voices that we will become and a sense of comfort with this new life at LSR.

It’s not been very long since I came to this place, a place I’ve dreamed about for years. As someone who has spent one week at their dream college, I expected to feel many things, but in reality, this one week has taught me more than I could have ever imagined.
It did feel surreal and exciting when I got the admission offer. However, as I walked through the gates on my first day, with the pouring rain working as a welcoming signal from God, I was scared and nervous. Seeing people from such diverse backgrounds with such talented minds and personalities was overwhelming. The ethereal voices, stellar performances, and captivating compositions during orientation made me question myself: “Will I be able to fit in?”
The tables turned when I met my Department of Journalism . A short interaction with inspiring seniors and my batchmates made me feel comfortable and like I truly belonged.
I realised how we, as humans, often forget to celebrate the pennies (little wins) while focusing on the pounds (big goals). LSR was never a penny for me, but as soon as I achieved it, I forgot to celebrate it.
Some of my key learnings included being open to learning from my surroundings, seeing competition as an opportunity rather than a challenge, and understanding that everyone has a different path to success. This first week taught me that growth begins the moment we step out of our comfort zone.

My journey in LSR till now has been a smooth ride, I found a lot of good people. LSR taught me that real girlhood can exist and it is the peak of it, everyone supports eachother at LSR and the seniors have been so helpful and friendly, it's hard to believe they're seniors because they don't have any ego whatsoever. The faculty of the department of journalism is absolutely amazing and the professors are really interactive. I joined LSR and chose journalism because I have always loved politics and history and also have experience with journalism and writing articles, I love debating, writing and reading and LSR is the perfect place for me to express myself.

The Journey Begins

Getting into LSR is not just about stepping into a college with red-brick walls; it is entering a space full of ambition, new opportunities, and experiences you don’t really forget.

For me, the LSR tag is not just something that sits on a CV—it is something you actually live. It introduces you to what people call the “LSR magic,” a phrase I once thought sounded a bit whimsical until I experienced it myself. There is a certain confidence and sense of direction that slowly builds in you here, almost without you noticing at first, and it pushes you to do better every day.

Even the simple walk to class feels different over time; you start to feel a quiet change in yourself, like something inside you is gradually waking up.

What stands out most are the people—the vibrant faces, the mix of perspectives, and the constant curiosity you see around you. It really does reflect the legacy LSR is known for.

At LSR, you don’t just read the motto—"Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye" (Knowledge is that which leads to liberation); you start to understand it through your own experience. It becomes less of a line and more of a journey, one that slowly helps you move beyond doubt and limitations, and pushes you to grow into someone more confident and self-aware , to become a trailblazer something our Seniors are well known for

My experience at LSR is a question that truly boggled my mind: ‘Is growth supposed to feel this overwhelming?’ I’ve been trying to think about my experience for the past few hours, and if I had to describe it in two words, it would be ‘beautiful chaos’.
The experience that I thought would be familiar has truly humbled me in just a week, but in the best way possible. I have realised that it is not going to be an easy journey, but as we all know, after the storm comes a rainbow. I am thrilled and devoted to working on myself, becoming an even more confident version of myself, and embracing the unknown.
While this journey feels a little overwhelming at times, it is for sure also refreshing to know that this is something only I own. I want to shape it in the best way possible while remaining grounded and true to myself and to the people around me.

Standing before the iconic building of Lady Shri Ram College with pouring rain on our orientation day, I realized my journey here was anything but simple. For the past few months, I had been here and there, just trying to find a place that I could call mine. The first time I picked up a camera, I knew media was my calling, and I have been fully devoted to my future goals ever since.

The way I got my CUET results was rather ironic—at 9 PM, I was standing in a random fruit shop in Pune, having been a student at another college for barely 24 hours. My entire trajectory shifted, and the next moment, I was on a flight back to Delhi.

After all the rigorous preparation hours of studying, mock tests, and entrance exams the idea of finally going to college was a massive relief. Although, now that I have been here for a few days, that relief has turned into worries and confusion, as it is such a huge shift. But one thing I understood for sure was why LSR is "The College." The campus, the crowd, and the faculty everything just inspires me to give my best and become the version of myself I promised my childhood self I would become.

My journey at Lady Shri Ram College has only just begun, but it has already been incredibly exciting and enriching. The people here are so warm and welcoming that my first day didn't even feel like a first day. I felt valued from the very beginning, and ever since our esteemed Principal spoke about the MAGIC of LSR during the orientation session, I have been able to experience it firsthand. The campus feels dreamlike, and with students from such diverse backgrounds, every conversation brings a fresh perspective. Engaging in discussions with my peers has encouraged me to look beyond viewpoints I once held rather rigidly, something I believe is invaluable in a field like journalism. Our seniors and professors have created a safe and encouraging space where everyone feels comfortable expressing their thoughts and opinions. While everything still feels new, I am excited to learn, grow, and make the most of every opportunity that LSR has to offer. I look forward to the next three years with great enthusiasm.

My first day at LSR was a dream that I had dreamt of for two years. I walked in on a rainy day.The light drizzle and fresh, invigorating breeze seemed to carry the aspirations of young girls like myself. Nervous and anxious as I was, I was also enthusiastic and elated as I realised I was walking into what was going to be my home for the next three years.
"How would I introduce myself?" "Will I be able to hold a good conversation?" were some simple yet important, naive yet beautiful questions that crossed my mind as I wanted to create a good first impression. But every person was feeling the same rush of emotions, and everyone, with their own efforts, made the day better for each other.
As Principal Ma'am guided us through the prestigious legacy of the institution, it gave me a sense of achievement along with a drive to take it forward. A place that turns young girls into ambitious women, that is the magic of LSR, as everyone calls it.
I have come here with a passion for learning and a drive to bring change. Journalism is a pursuit which hones our intellectual, investigative, and rhetorical abilities. It is a path which leads us to so many new opportunities. I am looking forward to contributing to the Department of Journalism, to learning, to advancing, and to coming out with a basket full of skills which are required to tackle real-world scenarios.
One thing that stayed with me from the day of orientation is the motto: “Sā vidyā yā vimuktaye”:-that alone is knowledge which leads to liberation.
As I embark on this new journey, I hope to contribute meaningfully to the department, and uphold the values that LSR stands for.

My experience at lsr so far. Joining lsr has been exciting and memorable. Even though I only recently became a student here, my journey so far has been filled with many new experiences and learning opportunities. From the first day itself, I was so fascinated with the environment of the college and the people around. Meeting new people has definitely been my favourite part about the whole experience. Everybody has been very warm and welcoming, because of which I have settled in pretty quickly. Until now, there have been quite a few orientations that gave me a glimpse into the academic situation at lsr, and, must I say, there are so many new things I can learn beyond my own major, helping me develop new skills and learn so much more. All in all my experience so far in lsr has been absolutely wonderful, and I hope it stays that way.

Walking through the gates of LSR had been my dreams for the past 5 years and when I did so on 28th August for the first time it felt both exciting and overwhelming.
Honestly my first few days at LSR have been a mix of nervousness, curiosity, and excitement.
I did make new friends started to talk alot of people(stepped out of my comfort zone but at the same time I am quite anxious as it is taking me time to figure out the time table, getting along with everyone
then seeing so many talented students around me it is both humbling and motivating)
Also before joining LSR, I had heard a lot about its ‘magic,’ but experiencing it myself has been different
My sister graduated from LSR with a degree in Psychology, so throughout my school life, I grew up listening to her stories about the college its vibrant campus, inspiring faculty, and unique atmosphere. Those stories made me curious and gradually turned LSR into a dream for me. I always hoped that one day I would get the chance to be a part of this reputed institution myself. Now that I am finally here, it feels both surreal and rewarding
It is exciting to begin this new chapter in a place that I had admired for so many years, and I look forward to making my own memories while learning and growing here

From walking among these lush green gardens only in my father's dreams, to being able to physically feel their freshness myself, it has been a long but worthy journey. The first step I took into LSR was accompanied by a light drizzle of rain, as if the very skies were welcoming me. Being able to watch the sunlight bounce off the hallways I once dreamed of standing in, the same hallways I watched countless times on YouTube, has been nothing short of surreal.

Yet, five days in, and LSR has already begun to feel more like home rather than a distant dream. As I see the unfamiliar faces becoming familiar, the overwhelming feeling of newness becoming a bit less jarring, it puts my worries of the 'Magic of LSR' being just a phrase, at ease. For this magic can be felt everywhere, from the red bricked corridors to the very people who have made this brick building their home. I cannot wait to see what magic awaits me here.

Well my journey in LSR til now has been been a roller coaster. moving to Delhi from Assam has been hectic and trying to balance college with it has definitely not been easy. But experiencing the magic of LSR has vanished all those feelings of hesitation and intimidation. Talking to the faculty and seniors gave me a sense of excitement of all the opportunities that I’ll be having which means a lot to me since previously in my school it felt very restricted. But lastly i would say I am really excited to get to know all my batchmates and see how the next 3 years of my life play out!

Riya Verma , B.A Journalism hons. , 1st year

So I'm from mayur vihar and I'm an athlete and a couch as well, I do swimming ,crochet, and I love dancing.
My journey to LSR began long before I stepped through its iconic red-brick gates. Growing up, I heard countless stories about the college's legacy of shaping confident, articulate women from my sister who graduated from lsr only in English hons.
I wanted to grow as a person. I wanted to explore my self, my interests and my capabilities. In the first allotment I got english hons. But I wanted psychology as my 1st preference and journalism hons. Which I got in my 2nd allotment so when I finally got the chance to join LSR, it felt like the natural culmination of the efforts that i made in my school and all the hardwork i did to be in Lsr. Now, as a student here, I find myself constantly challenged and inspired by the surroundings. LSR isn't just my college, it's where I will become who I want to be. I'm very grateful to be a part of this beautiful place and I want explore the opportunities as much as I can.

My journey to LSR
Aaliya
Every dream begins with a single decision the decision to believe in yourself. My journey to Lady Shri Ram College wasn't built overnight. It started with countless hours of preparation for CUET, moments of self-doubt, and the determination to never give up.The road wasn't always easy. There were long study sessions, uncertainty about the results, endless discussions about college preferences, and the fear of whether all my hard work would pay off.
Then i got LSR when I got this I don't know about the brand value of it and i did also dreamed about any specific course, so i got journalism , this course is like a mistory box for me like i don't know what's come next. i always come with the mindset that in every lectures , evey small thing or whatever happen in college is really like a magic which I don't predict every day is like a suprise for me and I want my hole journey in LSR as much suprise exciting like a first day of college.
I also want to add one small thing is I never studied in every big school i did schooling from decent govt. School. so, getting in college or such a huge college for me is like a bird survived a dust storm and now the bird is in clean weather, Who wanted o explore hole sky .

News is information about recent or ongoing events that is of interest or importance to a segment of the public which is disseminated through media channels. According to Joseph Pulitzer, news is anything that is fresh, reasonable, honest and interested to the reader. In addition to this, news often depends on the geographic location of the audience as people are generally more interested in events that directly affect them. For example, floods in Mumbai would be of greater interest to Mumbai residents than to people living in another country. News is also classified into local news which covers events within a city or community; national news, which reports events affecting the entire country and international news which focuses on important developments around the world. The nature of news refers to the fundamental characteristics that make news meaningful, reliable and valuable to the public. News should be factual, objective , public oriented, clear and concise. In addition to these characteristics, news also contains certain ingredients or news values that determine its newsworthiness. These include timeliness, proximity, prominence, impact , novelty and many more which help editors decide whether an event is worth reporting.

Today, we learned many new things. We discussed embargo and how news should be timely as well as factual, also it should follow order and shouldn't include personal opinions which was really fascinating to me. We learned about hard and soft news as well, I always assumed that hard news is negative but it can be positive or neutral as well, it's serious, factual and urgent in nature. Soft news includes feature stories and it depends on how we see the news, for it to be considered positive or negative. We also learned that newspapers have a column for personal opinions on the right side of the editorial page, such articles are called op-ed articles and can criticize the very newspaper publishing it. It's really important that news is verified and accurate, sympathy or curiousity can also be news.
