Juxtapose serves as a space for deep academic engagement and meaningful dialogue. Each year, we explore a theme that pushes us to question, analyze, and understand. This year’s theme—“Media Multiverse”—examines the evolving role of media in shaping our realities, especially in this age of fragmented narratives and shifting platforms.
DAY 1: Dear Dr. Kanika Ahuja, Principal, LSR, Ms. Lakshmi Sharma, Senior Producer at I would like to welcome each one of you to Juxtapose, 2025, an academic event which has created its special space in the world of media academics.
LSR was established in 1956 by the late Sir Shri Ram in the memory of his wife. The Department of Journalism in the college was introduced in 1995, established by Shri B.G. Verghese, a senior journalist and a recipient of the Ramon Magsaysay Award.
The Journalism Programme of Lady Shri Ram College is designed to give women an effective voice in the world of media. Our attempt here is to train professionals, who are sensitive to the demands of this role, and who, in the pursuit of truth, are alive to its many dimensions.
Juxtapose, the annual academic meet of the Department, serves as a platform for intellectual discourse on media and communication. Hosting students from across all universities in Delhi-NCR, the event is a vibrant exchange of meaningful ideas and innovations, opening up space for discussions on pertinent issues in the evolving landscape of media and communication. With a rich legacy featuring renowned panelists and academicians, along with a host of engaging competitions, the event serves as a crucial point of convergence for those in the field of media.
Juxtapose goes beyond being just an academic event. It offers an opportunity to journalism students to take charge — planning, organizing, and executing each aspect with remarkable professionalism. It also opens its doors to participants from various courses and colleges, encouraging interdisciplinary engagement and fresh perspectives.
This year’s theme-“Media Multiverse: Expanding Universe of the Media Landscape”-underscores the ever-evolving nature of the media universe, highlighting the diverse narratives that coexist in this dynamic ecosystem. It spans traditional journalism, digital storytelling, social media discourse, and emerging immersive formats. The theme brings to life an exploration of how storytelling, technology, and cultural shifts shape the ways in which we consume, create, and connect in the digital age.
Comprising six teams, each headed by a faculty member, the event is the result of the collective efforts of all involved.
I would like to put on record my deep appreciation for the Student Union of the Department of Journalism, led by Afza Khan as President, Ananya Nigam as General Secretary, and Kashvi Trivedi as Treasurer, along with the entire Organising Committee of Juxtapose, who have worked tirelessly day and night to organise this event.
A special mention to our colleague and now the Principal of this college, Dr. Kanika Ahuja, whose unwavering support and guidance helped us in making this event possible.
