जिला जेल में रविवार को पांचवे अखिल भारतीय तिनका तिनका अवॉर्ड 2019 समारोह का आयोजन हुआ। इस बार यहां हुई पेंटिंग प्रतियोगिता की थीम 'जेल में रेडियो' थी। बिलासपुर जेल के अजय ने पेंटिंग में प्रथम स्थान, केन्द्रीय जेल के अजय फूल सिंह ने दूसरा, सहारनपुर जेल के निगम पवार, बरेली के बंदी दिनेश कुमार को तीसरा स्थान हासिल किया।
इन सभी को डीजी जेल आनंद कुमार, पूर्व डीजीपी सुलखान सिंह और तिनका-तिनका संस्था की संस्थापक वर्तिका नंदा ने पुरस्कृत किया।
इसके अलावा बांदा के जेलर रंजित कुमार सिंह, लखनऊ के संतोष कुमार सिंह, कौशाम्बी के बीएस मुकंद, मैनपुरी के ब्रजेश कुमार, नारी बंदी निकेतन की शबाना निगार, महाराष्ट्र से समाकांत चन्द्रकांत शडगे, कपूरथला से सुरेन्द्रपाल खन्ना, अलवर से भगतलाल मीना, लखनऊ जिला कारागार के सुपरिटेंडेंट को सम्मानित किया गया।
इस मौके पर संस्था की संस्थापक वर्तिका नंदा की किताब 'तिनका-तिनका डासना' का भी विमोचन किया गया।

This is a great initiative by Tinka Tinka. This award will give incentive to inmates to develop their talents and creativity. The work of Dr. Vartika Nanda, the founder of the movement of prison reforms in India, is a testament to the idea that rehabilitation and not punishment is the answer.
